Throwback: Indescribable - Committed (Chris Tomlin Cover)

Our second most viewed video on over 170,000 views…

Indescribable was actually written by Laura Story, which she released on her first album of the same name in 2002. The song was recorded in 2004 by Chris Tomlin on his album Arriving. Story mentioned in an interview with worship.com that she was ”driving down a mountain road, eyes fixed on the majesty of her Creator, when she started worshiping and singing, “Indescribable…uncontainable…You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name…”.

Committed is a gospel acapella group of five male vocalists from Huntsville, Alabama, all students at Oakwood University, a historically black Seventh-day Adventist school in Huntsville. The group—Therry Thomas, Dennis Baptiste, Geston Pierre, Robert Pressley and Maurice Staple—began singing together in 2003, inspired by another acapella group that originated at Oakwood, Take 6. They came to fame when they won season 2 of the Acapella hit show, "The Sing-off" and are a Grammy nominated group. In this video, Committed sing a beautiful "Indescribable" cover, arranged by the amazing Sam Robson!

Lyrics

From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea

Creation's revealing Your majesty

From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring

Every creature unique in the song that it sings

All exclaiming Indescribable, uncontainable,

You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.

You are amazing God

All powerful, untameable,

Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim

You are amazing God

Who sees lightning bolts and tells them where they should go

Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow

Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light

Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night

None can fathom Indescribable, uncontainable,

You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name

You are amazing God

All powerful, untameable,

Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim

You are amazing God

You are amazing God
